The plain english version:
We only transmit your information to the minimum people necessary to complete the transaction/registration you sign up for, and we never transmit your information outside of USNAAA membership. If you make an online purchase, this information is securely transmitted to PayPal and Wells Fargo as with any credit card or e-check transaction. We do not have access to your credit card or other payment information, but know only what you purchased and whether or not the payment has cleared.
The Legal Version:
The Information We Collect:
You provide specific personal information during the purchase of items from our site, or when you complete registration with our Chapter. The information includes: your name, address, email address, telephone numbers, payment information and your interest in joining our chapter.
How we use the information you provide when you register with our chapter:
When you register with our Chapter, your information is emailed to our membership staff and shared with other Chapter Officers when necessary. We use the information you provide to notify you of Chapter events/issues. We also compare and update alumni addresses with the USNA Alumni Association in Annapolis. Lifetime and annual Chapter Members are provided access to a listing of all local alumni and their contact information. If you desire your information to be deleted from this list, notify us and we will retain your information for contact purposes but note you as 'unlisted' in our published roster. Our roster includes appropriate legal warnings to prevent the use of registration information for purposes other than official USNAAA functions and personal contact between members.
How we use the information you provide when you buy items on our website:
1. Non-financial data - When you purchase any item on our website, your name, the fact that you have completed a transaction, the amount, and other event-specific information is transmitted to the alumnus responsible for the function you paid for. This basic information may be shared with other chapter members and their assistants responsible for managing a specific event. For instance, if you pay online for a chapter lunch, your name and the fact that you have paid in advance will be sent to the individual responsible for managing the lunch.
2. Financial Data - Each transaction is managed by PayPal, who uses your credit card, checking account, or PayPal account information to authorize the transaction. We have no access to this information, other than the item purchased, amount that you paid, and the clearing of the transaction. Debit/credit card or checking account information is also transmitted via normal US financial networks to your bank or credit card company for authorization. These companies must comply with US laws for transaction security, but check with each company for their privacy policies.
Legal Inquiries:
We may disclose personal information in response to legal process (e.g. in response to a court order or subpoena). We also may disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency's requests. And finally, we may disclose personal information in response to a charge-back inquiry from our merchant bank about your payment. We will not sell or transfer any information provided to us except as described above.
Collection of Information by Third Party Sites:
Our site contains links to other sites whose information practices may be different than ours. Visitors should consult the other sites' privacy notices, as we have no control over information that is submitted to, or collected by, these third parties. Our site does not send information to other websites or organizations, except for USNAAA as discussed above.
