Nearly SOLD OUT Rear Admiral Hurley recently finished his tour as Deputy Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet in Japan. He will share his perspectives on current issues facing the U.S. Navy.

We are excited to host Rear Admiral Brian Hurley as our chapter luncheon speaker for November, 2017. RDML Hurley finished his tour as Deputy Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet in Japan in early September. He was also the Commander, Logistics Group Western Pacific/Task Force 73 in Singapore.

He has been at the tip of the spear, and will share his perspectives on current isues facing the Navy in the Pacific.

This event will also serve as our annual Membership meeting as defined by our bylaws. We will conduct our regular luncheon event and promulgate the results of the election.

ABOUT REAR ADMIRAL HURLEY:

Rear Admiral Brian Hurley, originally from Galveston, Texas, graduated from Texas A&M University in 1987. He has also received an executive master’s degree in business administration from the University of Dallas.

A career submarine officer, he served as a division officer on USS Pintado (SSN 672) and USS Tautog (SSN 639), Operations Officer on Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) 6, and as Combat Systems Officer on USS Atlanta (SSN 712). In August 1998, he transferred to Commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet as the Executive Assistant to Plans and Policy, where he also took the lead in establishing contingency plans and supervising international relations.

In 2000 Hurley accepted a commission in the Navy Reserve where he has since served in support of Navy and joint forces worldwide. He was assigned as the commanding officer of several Reserve units for submarine maintenance and training, an Amphibious Construction Battalion, Navy Reserve Submarine Development Squadron (DEVRON) 12, Joint Staff South; Navy Installation Command Headquarters, and Chief of Staff for Joint Staff J7. Hurley also served as the Commander, Logistics Group Western Pacific/Task Force 73 in Singapore and Deputy Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet in Japan.

Hurley's personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.
